In October 2025, my ministry assignment changed from the USA Field to Africa. Africa is about three times the size of the continential United States. In Community of Christ, Africa is one field with twelve (12) mission centers.
January 10-25, Catherine Mambwe and I traveled to Kenya and Zambia. We spent deliberate time in Nairobi and Kisumu, Kenya, as well as Lusaka and Kashikishi, Zambia. We traveled with our Field Leadership Team:
Baka Blé, Field Bishop - Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast)
Chizaso Chunga, Field Bishop - Malawi
Sylvester Ochieng, President of Seventy - Kenya
Larry McGuire, President of Seventy - USA
Bunda Chibwe, First Presidency also joined us.
The purpose of our visit was to introduce the new Field Team and continue work on our missional strategies in the Africa Field. We focused on training in Shared Leadership, as well as Public Ministry. In particular, we focused Community of Christ worship, using and understanding the Christian calendar and Common Lectionary. We presented Community of Christ worship resources available in 20 languages at https://gathering.cofchrist.org/.
It was a rich and meaningful visit full of worship, education, ordinations, and leadership training. In the future, I hope to share more about the music you hear, the languages and meaning of the sung texts. We can't understand the African cultures or African church without understanding the rich history of song and dance.
The 8:48 video above will show you highlights of our shared journey, especially the music. Enjoy!

Wonderful Ministry Kenya and Zambia were blessed 🙌
